Career Opportunity: Project Coordinator

This is a Definite Contract Position for a period of 18 months.

Prime Focus of Position

  • Responsible for the successful and efficient implementation of projects, including EU funded projects, undertaken by the Authority with a view to fulfilling its strategic objectives.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage the project entrusted to them in accordance to the highest standards and as stipulated by the Authority and respective principals.
  • Prepare project briefs for the planned initiatives
  • Conduct research on the related themes and develop background papers
  • Monitor related developments that take place at EU level and draft respective positions
  • Represent the MCA on committees, meetings and other events as required
  • Participate and/or contribute towards the achievement of MCA objectives across all operational disciplines


  • Implement the project activities in accordance with agreed plans and MCA project management procedures
  • Implement procurement procedures in accordance with MCA procedures
  • Recommend new initiatives and work plans leading to the achievement of objectives relating to the Unit’s processes/functions
  • Commitment to internal policies and procedures

Technical processes:

  • Assimilate/disseminate intelligence and information from/to the rest of the Authority making best use of internal knowledge-based resources
  • Monitor progress of each critical phase of entrusted projects
  • Ensure quality and timeliness of the project outputs and results
  • Maintain all the relevant technical and financial documents
  • Prepare and submit all management and financial reports 


  • Ensure proper communication and coordination between the different stakeholders taking part in assigned projects.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with all Groups and the Management Team to facilitate a cohesive and integrated approach in the Authority’s operations and the ultimate fulfilment of the Strategic objectives of the organisation.

  • Carry out other duties under the direction and instructions of the Senior Project Coordinator.

Qualifications / Skills Required:

  • Degree (or higher) level of education.
  • Preference will be given in degrees in Management, Public Policy, Commerce, Business & Computing, European Studies, International Relations, Information Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, Education, Languages  or in a related area
  • Relevant work experience will be considered an asset
  • Solid analytical and report writing skills coupled with an excellent command of verbal and written English and Maltese
  • Propensity to carry out analytical and research work and to evaluate, assimilate and report on findings
  • Project management skills
  • Proficiency in the use of office automation tools, particularly Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to work as a member of a team
